guide to airports and flight schedules

Each airline listed has its own web site where flight times and costs can be checked and bookings made direct - usually the quickest, simplest and cheapest way. Not all services operate all the year. Only scheduled services are shown.

Note: all these destinations can be reached by British Airways/Iberia via Madrid. Only known direct flights are shown below

Malaga is the closest to FOUNTAINHEAD and has excellent scheduled services. It also has the most flight options. It is generally the busiest (by Spanish standards) and flights at some times of the year can be more expensive. Flights from London, major UK cities and provincial UK airports. Access to the city centre is quick albeit busy at some times of the day. It is possible with an early or late flight to take a half day to explore this city or to visit the Picasso museum before journeying on. Fountainhead is about 45 minutes by car from the airport or town centre.

Granada is situated inland north-east and is a good alternative to Malaga. Its main advantage is that it is well out of the city and quiet. The roads are less busy than the coast. A good option for clients wishing to extend their stay to visit the Alhambra (Granada) and or the Mesquita in Cordoba.

Jerez is pretty much due west. A small airport just out of town. A bit further to travel but it’s a lovely drive along quiet country roads through the sierra de Grazalema National park. A good option for clients wishing to visit Jerez and or Ronda.

Ryanair from London Stansted

Seville is north-west and has scheduled services and other flight options. It’s a big and busy city and we recommend extending your stay by a night or two to visit its sights. The roads journeying east are quiet passing many picturesque towns and villages.

Ryanair from London Stansted and Bristol

Almeria is due East and the farthest away. The main advantage is that the

Journey takes you through Almeria’s desert landscapes and up past the cave dwellings in Guadix. The road all the way is fast but not terribly busy. A good option for clients wishing to see these dramatic landscapes and for those wishing to extend their visit to include the Cabo de Gata-Nijar National park.

Gibraltar is south west along the coast and has scheduled services from Heathrow and Gatwick. It is a good option for clients wishing to combine a stay on the coast with a weekend in the country. Marbella for sheer contrast, great hotels and nightlife is recommended as is Malaga for an unspoilt earthy taste of Andalucian life.
